Aquino voted Flores to be opted out during the semifinals of the Pilipinas Got Talent on 2010 citing wrong choice of song. Aquino insisted that Flores should sing songs that her generation (19 years old back then) can go along with, like that of Charice.
After Flores received a golden buzzer from multiple Grammy-award winning producer David Foster, netizens dug old PGT video of Gerphil and edited the title with “Gerphil Flores is Robbed of her Rightful Win”. The video went viral along with Flores’ AGT videos. Youtube users bash Kris Aquino and fellow Judge Ai-ai de las Alas for their bias judgement.
The grand winner of Asia’s Got Talent will be announced Thursday night via AXN TV. The Philippines has four finalists but fans and viewers believe that either Gerphil Flores or the shadow dancers El Gamma Penumbra would take home the prize.
“Whether Gerphil win or lose, she is already a winner”, Singaporean Andy Chan told TPP.
“El Gamma Penumbra can take home the prize but what’s next after they win? Gerphil on the other hand could shine internationally wherever she wants. El Gama has no album to sell. My vote goes to Gerphil,” Chan added.
Filipina singers Lea Salonga and Regine Velasquez also voiced their support to the 24-year old classical-crossover singer.
For some fans, the AGT’s announcement tonight is more thrilling than the over-hyped “Fight of the Century” between many Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“There was no emotion on that fight. It was all about money and popularity. I didn’t see any pride or legacy on Pacquiao. I watch Gerphil’s videos all day long and I can’t beat my tears. It’s all about emotion and pride. This girl has no story to tell but her actions are more than words when she is telling a story through her songs,” Makati business owner Lara Soriano told TPP.
